KARYN JONES COMES BACK TO VISIT
BY T.J. Miller
Hi there my people, it’s me, T. J. Miller and this article is about a cool college student that was once a student here at Hazelwood West High School. She is now a college student studying to be a secondary teacher. Her name is Karyn Jones, once one of our respected Wildcats, and now she goes to Trinity Christian College located in Palos Heights, Illinois.
She is planning to stay for four years there if everything all goes all right. This college student is double majoring in special education and mathematics education. When she graduates from college she wants to be a special education teacher, a co-teacher in a math education classroom, which is a classroom that has two teachers. She wants to be the teacher that oversees the special education students in the math classroom. She has a reason on why she wants to be a special education teacher, because she wants to help kids see their full potential just like the teachers who supported her when she was in high school. Karyn really enjoyed her years in Hazelwood West high school, and there are two reasons why. One is the teacher that brought the Special Affects club together, Mrs. Inman. Her second reason is that the teachers here supported her to get her to where she is right now. These teachers that helped her have guided her and with their help she spread her wings and is soaring and flying like an eagle.
When Karyn went to Hazelwood West it was a little different from what it is right now. It was in the middle of construction, so the school looks completely different now. While she was a student, she stayed far away from the conflicts that were going on in this school.
So her school is a private Christian school, it's about 50 miles from down town Chicago in Illinois. There is a number of Christian students that attended this school, more came back for their bachelor's degrees, and the others for their master's degrees. Before she went to college, she had an IEP when she was in high school, now that she technically she doesn't have an IEP right now. She struggled in high school too. She struggled with her reading skills and her learning disability was her reading skills. Karyn’s struggle in college is basically the same thing because there's a lot of reading now in her classes and the professors are saying that you better know the material. She manages to overcome this by asking for help. She says that you can't be afraid to ask for help and you have to put in the hard work if you want to be successful. It looks like Karyn has great advice.
